Mehdi Zighami stated: More than 2200 traders have entered the country for Iran Expo 2024, and the presence of delegations continues. Also, in the first two days of the exhibition, more than 5000 business meetings have been held.
He emphasized that over 800 Iranian companies were present at these meetings and that business and economic meetings with other companies are underway to increase exports, stating: The focus of trade has always been on regional countries, neighbors, and Eurasia. However, in this period, we have also focused on African and East Asian countries.
This official also stated that in a process of one to two years, these agreements will lead to contracts and create business opportunities, saying: Our estimate is the conclusion of about 3 to 5 billion euros worth of trade contracts in this period of the exhibition.
Zighami, who was present at the special news talk program, stated that the focus is more on the development of knowledge-based exports and exports of goods with higher added value, saying: Of course, the government merely facilitates so that the private sector and traders can connect with target countries, and this process leads to an increase in non-oil exports.
He mentioned that last year there were 10 commodity groups at the exhibition, which today has been reduced to six commodity groups to focus on the exports of the main commodity groups, saying: We are trying to diversify export commodity groups and move towards goods that bring in foreign currency and have higher added value.
The head of Iran's Trade Development Organization stated that the space for this period of the exhibition was 50,000 square meters, while we need more than 200,000 square meters to hold the exhibition, emphasizing: We are using financial methods and quasi-SWIFT for trade with some countries. Also, the establishment of shipping lines to strengthen trade infrastructure has been put on the agenda.
